Walking For Fitness

Walking For Fitness is a great way to incorporate exercise in your everyday life. All you need is a comfortable pair of shoes and start walking. You can walk by yourself, with a friend or family member, or you can walk on a treadmill either at home or at the gym. Make your walking for fitness workout fun by listening to some upbeat music or going for a day hike on the weekend.

Let's take a look at some reasons why you should start to walk as part of your exercise routine. Walking for fitness works, because...

...It's Easy

It's not had to get started. You already know the basic moves - you just get up and walk. The only equipment you absolutely need is a comfortable pair of shoes. Lace them up and just start walking through your neighborhood. You can start walking a slowly and as short of a distance as you'd like and from there work on walking longer distances. You can also slowly increase the speed at which you walk and find some  hills  you can walk up for a more challenging walking for fitness workout.

...It's Low Impact

Walking is a very low impact workout, which makes it perfect for just about anyone. You don't have to worry about messing up your hips, your knees or any other body parts. All you are doing is going for a little stroll. Walking doesn't have much of a risk to get yourself injured, unless of course you walk on unsave terrain. Of course you should still check with your physician before starting a walking workout routine.

...It's Fun

Walking is just plain fun. You get out in the fresh air and enjoy your surroundings while you walk along. To make it even more fun get a friend to join you for your walks. Other ideas to keep your walking for fitness workouts interesting are to listen to some music or audio books while you walk. It also helps to change where your walk every so often. Explore a different neighborhood or the walking loop of one of your local parks.

...It Makes You Feel Better

Walking makes you feel better in more ways than one. The exercise alone is good for your body and your overall health. Fresh air can help make you feel more energized and even get rid of headaches. Then there are also those endorphins that are released as you walk and exercise. Endorphins are hormones your body releases during physical activity that make you feel happy.
