Using Green Tea To Lose Weight
Green tea has
been used for centuries and still remains one of the most popular
teas in China and Japan. Green tea contains powerful antioxidants
which may help fight against heart disease, cancers and other
diseases. More recent studies have shown that this powerful tea is
also beneficial to weight loss.
A recent medical study that was published in the American Journal of
Clinical Nutrition showed that participants who drank a bottle of
green tea extract daily for a period of 3 months, lost more body fat
than the control group, who was given regular tea instead.
Scientists speculate that the chemical epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)
which is found in green tea raises the metabolism while also
releasing noradrenaline a hormone that suppresses one's
appetite.
This same study also showed that the consumption of catechins in
green tea helped to reduce both body fat and LDL (also know as
bad) cholesterol levels.
By now you may be wondering exactly how much green tea you should be
drinking each day to ream the same weight loss benefit.
Based on the recent research you would need to consume at least 4
cups of green tea daily to see any results with green tea weight
loss. You can also find green tea capsules on the market that
provide you with concentrated green tea extract in the form of a
supplement you can take daily. The quality of the supplements will
vary from one brand to the next. Do you own research on each brand
before you buy.
Of course you don’t really have to take pills to receive all the
benefits of green tea. Instead, replace your daily cup of coffee or
black tea with a some green tea. It’s also a good drink in between
meals which may help satisfy your hunger pangs while providing your
body with a good dose of antioxidants. Green tea is delicious
both hot and cold.
There are quite a few benefits to drinking green tea and losing
weight is really just the icing on the cake. This is one great way
to stay healthy while shedding a few excess pounds.
