Boost Your Energy With Exercise

Regular Exercise Can Give You More Energy

Is there really a connection between energy and exercise? Are you feeling a little tired and worn out? Do you have a hard time waking up in the morning? Fell like laying down for an afternoon nap? if you usually gulp down a caffeinated drink like coffee or soda to get you going again, try a work out instead. Studies have shown that exercise is even more effective at giving you an energy boost than even prescription stimulants. Fatigue is often caused by inactivity, not by too much activity. So if you’ve been feeling run down and need a jump start, try adding exercise to your daily routine to get more energy.

A word of caution - Don't expect to feel wonderfully energized after just one or two workouts. You don't necessarily see results the same day and may even experience some temporary fatigue and muscle soreness. This is the reason why so many people start to exercise with good intentions, but then give up when there is no immediate return. Studies have shown that over time exercise does boost your energy levels as long as you stick with the program. It just takes your body a little while to adjust to the extra stress you put on it by working out. Once your body gets used to the workout you will start to feel the energy benefit of a good workout.

You also shouldn't expect to feel the rise in energy levels right after your finished working out. Most people feel initially feel tired, but get more energized a little later. Your your body needs a little time to recover from all that extra work. If you you are still feeling tired and worn out an hour after working out, you may be pushing yourself too hard. Try doing a little less and building up to a longer and harder workout.

One of the tricks to making sure you stick with your workout routine is schedule it when your energy levels are naturally high. You don't want to plan on going to the gym after a long day at work when all you really want to do is flop on the couch. Pick a time when you usually feel most awake and try to schedule your workouts during that time. After a few weeks, you should feel energetic enough to move your workout to a more convenient time and working out will have started to become a habit.

Another great reason to work out regularly is that a good workout can help improve the quality of your sleep. You will fall asleep more easily and sleep deeper, waking up more rested and even more energetic the next day. So, if you’re feeling sluggish, get up and get moving. You’ll be feeling better in no time.
